Contemporary Glass Artist Dorte Pape was born and brought up in Denmark, but moved to Scotland as a young adult and has remained there since. She lives and works in Glasgow, where she shares a studio with another glass artist.

She has been working with glass for almost twenty years and does leaded stained glass work, painted work, but mainly warm glass work, fusing and shaping glass in a kiln.

Using various methods in her fused work, combining it with painting and sand–blasting, is the work she enjoys most.

Most of her inspiration comes from nature, which can for example be seen in her series of hedgerow panels as well as her birds. She continues to get excited by and explore the possibilities of this very versatile and colourful material to create both small and large scale pieces of unique work.
