About The Artist
Nikki Monaghan
Nikki is a professional artist working from her home studio in Falkirk, Central Scotland. She studied at the Scottish College of Textiles where she gained a BA (Hons) in Printed Textile Design. She has also dabbled in silversmithing, and worked for many years as an interior stylist throughout the UK.
She has also enjoyed working on many community-based art projects over the years. Now you can find her painting full-time from her studio.
Focusing mainly on landscapes she finds inspiration from harbours, cities, villages, and towns throughout the UK with a nod to the narrative. Her textile background is still apparent within her work with a love of colour and pattern a strong feature.
Acrylics, inks, oil pastels and charcoal are applied in layers in her paintings to create a stylized, simplified depiction of her subject. She loves colour and says she is always in awe at the emotion it can create. She wants to paint joyful scenes of places, where memories are relived, and connections are made.
